Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. (Romans 12:12 NIV)

God, I really don’t want to write a prayer blog post about the upcoming election every day for the next fifteen days.

Why not?

Well, probably because I don’t want to anger or frustrate or offend people who read my blog and may hold different political positions.

Do you think I anger, frustrate or offend people?

Definitely.

Do you think I want you to be fearful about what you say?

No, you tell us repeatedly not to fear.

Do you believe I will give you the words to say?

Yes. I’m sorry for being stubborn.

Obedience IS better, but I love you no matter what, Child. Let me take care of other people. You just pray.

Ok. I’ll get to work.

All Powerful God,

I come to You today, asking that You would break the power of deception over any part of the electorate that is not aligned with You. Where there are blinders to Your Way, Truth, and Life, I pray that You would cause those spiritual scales to fall off. I pray that You would unstop deaf ears that cannot hear Your voice or the call to vote in ways that lead to freedom and the full expression of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.

I pray that, by Your supernatural power and through the work of Your people, You would realign minds and hearts with Your Kingdom purposes. God, may every single voter make choices on their ballot that are completely aligned with the perfect will of the Lord Jesus Christ.

I ask this in His powerful name. AMEN.

The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. (2 Corinthians 4:4 NIV)

But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. (2 Corinthians 3:16 NIV)

So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. (Ephesian 4:17-18 NIV)

We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way… (Colossians 1:9-10 NIV)

Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:31-32 NIV)

Do you have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear? And don’t you remember? (Mark 8:18 NIV)

Then will the eyes of the blind be opened
and the ears of the deaf unstopped. (Isaiah 35:5 NIV)

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. (John 14:6 NIV)
