February 8, 2021 Prayer – Justice and Truth in “Impeachment” “Trial”

 Lord God in Heaven,

You rule over all the kingdoms of the nations.  Power and might are in your hand and no one can withstand you.  You have called individuals and nations to be in relationship with you; you chose us to save us and we give you thanks and praise for that.  Today we pray for the “impeachment” “trial” that is happening in the U.S. Senate.  Your Word is active and alive, sharper than any double-edged sword, and judging the thoughts and attitudes of the hearts of men and women. May your Word and our U.S. Constitution be the standards by which this event takes place – not the desires of any political agenda or evil spirit.  We pray that your absolute Truth will be exhibited, seen, and heard in these proceedings, both by lawmakers and by the U.S. population. May all who seek to put forth lies or half-truths twisted to support their agenda be thwarted by the power of Truth.  May all the wicked who plot against the righteous be trapped in their own webs of deceit and corruption.  May the power of the wicked be broken, we pray in Jesus’s name!  Your word says you laugh at the wicked for you know their day is coming.  We pray that today would be that day – that you would expose the wickedness, evil, and corruption in our government and media.  We cannot see things from your perspective, and we do not always know what is Truth, but your perfect perception does know.  So we ask you to pour out your Judgement, Justice, and Truth in these proceedings today.  May Truth and your righteous Justice be abundantly revealed in these proceedings so that the glory all goes to you, our Victorious God!  In the powerful name of Christ we pray, Amen!

“Lord, the God of our ancestors, are you not the God who is in heaven? You rule over all the kingdoms of the nations. Power and might are in your hand, and no one can withstand you. ….See how they are repaying us by coming to drive us out of the possession you gave us as an inheritance. Our God, will you not judge them? For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.” (2 Chronicles 20:6, 11-12 NIV)

“The wicked plot against the righteous
    and gnash their teeth at them;
but the Lord laughs at the wicked,
    for he knows their day is coming.
The wicked draw the sword
    and bend the bow
to bring down the poor and needy,
    to slay those whose ways are upright.
But their swords will pierce their own hearts,
    and their bows will be broken.
Better the little that the righteous have
    than the wealth of many wicked;
for the power of the wicked will be broken,
    but the Lord upholds the righteous.” (Psalm 37:12-17 NIV)

“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12 NIV)
