January 8, 2021 Prayer – Discernment and Wisdom

Sovereign Lord,

We proclaim the name of the Lord, the greatness of our God; there is no one like you.  You are our Rock, your works are perfect, and all your ways are just.  You are faithful, upright, and merciful, and you do no wrong.  Thank you that you are the Way, the Truth, and the Life and, when we ask, you give us Holy Spirit for revelation, wisdom, and discernment. Today we approach your throne of Glory asking for you to pour out your Spirit of discernment upon all who claim you as Lord and Savior.  There are so many “voices” in this world – chattering, speaking, whispering, and screaming – that we often find ourselves drawn to one or another, but not sure which one(s) might be yours.  Give us great clarity to listen to your voice and your voice only.  Give us great discernment to know where to ignore “false flag” reports or outright lies, but to know where your Truth is – in media reports, social media posts and comments, and especially in your Church. Among the people who claim to be your followers there is great diversity in thought. While that can be a reflection of your great creativity in creating us, it can also be warning of the infiltration of the enemy of our souls into your Church.  Give us discernment, Lord, so we know which voices in the Church and society speak for you – reflect your Character, your Will, and your Truth. It is time for you to act to root out the wickedness in your Church and in our society because your law of Life and Love, Truth and Justice, is being broken.  Guide us in your truth and teach us, for you are God our Savior, and our hope is in you all day long.  Give us wise and discerning hearts so we may know where your Truth is and how that Truth can set us free.  In the strong name of Christ, and begging for the intervention of the Holy Spirit, we pray.  So be it.  Amen.
