January 3, 2021 Prayer – Judgement against evil

Lion of Judah,

You are the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.  You are the Holy, and Righteous One who is worthy to judge the wickedness in this world.  We thank you that your Word promises that the power of the wicked will be broken and that you will uphold the righteous.  We pray for the power of the wicked to be broken in corrupt media and in governments in every township, county, and state capital, and especially in our federal government.  You have been patient, hoping that evildoers would repent and come to faith and we pray for them.  Even now, God, we pray they would rend their hearts and return to the Lord our God.  We know you are gracious, compassionate, slow to anger, and abounding in love.  So far your grace has relented in sending full judgement and calamity on this nation and we pray that, as we humble ourselves and pray, you would heal this land. But, we pray your Spirit’s cleansing fire would move in powerful ways to cleanse our media and governmental structures of any and all persons who are not aligned with your will and your way – no matter what media organization, political party, what office or position, what status they may have.  We pray the plans and plots of the wicked fail and that their ill-gotten wealth end up in the hands of godly people who use it for your Kingdom purposes.  May wrongdoers and their ideological offspring be completely destroyed and the righteous, blameless, upright, and peace-seekers inherit the land.   Our salvation comes from you, Lord, our stronghold in times of trouble.  Thank you for helping and delivering we who trust you and take refuge in you.  In the powerful name of Christ we pray for this judgement against evil.    Amen.

“Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity.” (Joel 2:13)

10 A little while, and the wicked will be no more;
    though you look for them, they will not be found.
17 For the power of the wicked will be broken,
    but the Lord upholds the righteous.
18 The blameless spend their days under the Lord’s care,
    and their inheritance will endure forever.
19 In times of disaster they will not wither;
    in days of famine they will enjoy plenty.
20 But the wicked will perish:
    Though the Lord’s enemies are like the flowers of the field,
    they will be consumed, they will go up in smoke.
27 Turn from evil and do good;
    then you will dwell in the land forever.
28 For the Lord loves the just
    and will not forsake his faithful ones.
Wrongdoers will be completely destroyed;
    the offspring of the wicked will perish.
29 The righteous will inherit the land
    and dwell in it forever.
32 The wicked lie in wait for the righteous,
    intent on putting them to death;
33 but the Lord will not leave them in the power of the wicked
    or let them be condemned when brought to trial.
34 Hope in the Lord
    and keep his way.
He will exalt you to inherit the land;
    when the wicked are destroyed, you will see it.
35 I have seen a wicked and ruthless man
    flourishing like a luxuriant native tree,
36 but he soon passed away and was no more;
    though I looked for him, he could not be found.
37 Consider the blameless, observe the upright;
    a future awaits those who seek peace.
38 But all sinners will be destroyed;
    there will be no future for the wicked.
39 The salvation of the righteous comes from the Lord;
    he is their stronghold in time of trouble.
40 The Lord helps them and delivers them;
    he delivers them from the wicked and saves them,
    because they take refuge in him.  (Psalm 37)

“But the eyes of the wicked will fail,
And there will be no escape for them;
And their hope is to breathe their last.” (Job 11:20)
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (2 Chron. 7:14 NIV)

“A good life gets passed on to the grandchildren; ill-gotten wealth ends up with good people.” (Prov. 13:22 MSG)
