Sovereign God,
I pray you would help us elect leaders that would protect the sovereignty of the United States. I pray that our national leaders – president, vice president, senators, representatives, and others appointed to the work – would protect and defend her Constitution from attacks without and within. I pray you would cause them to carefully consider what is best for the US when international negotiations, treaties, and agreements are happening. I pray your hand would hold back organizations that are a force for evil in the world. I pray you would protect this nation’s sovereignty from those who seek to destroy her, both from inside and out. And may your Church rise up in that protection to further your Kingdom and be about your work of making disciples and walking in justice and mercy. In Christ’s name we pray, Amen.
Now therefore, if you will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then you shall be a peculiar treasure to me above all people: for all the earth is mine. (Exodus 19:5)
“When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place. I have chosen and consecrated this temple so that my Name may be there forever. My eyes and my heart will always be there.” (2 Chronicles 7:13-16 NIV)
