“Yahweh is my best friend and my shepherd.

I always have more than enough.” (Psalm 23:1 TPT)

Tonight as I write this I am thinking about many, many things, several of which I will need to process into prayers. In the midst of the many, one thread stand out: that of friendship. The past week or so has been very intense, but my conversations with friends have lightened the load, released pressure, and given hope. Perhaps you, too, have good friends who walk with you to give you light and hope. Today, let us join together with grateful hearts for the good friends we have.

Jehovah Jireh,

You are such an amazing provider for your children. Thank you for the ways in which you give us companionship on the journeys we travel. Thank you for the true friends in our lives who walk with us through valleys, plateaus, and mountains. Thank you for friendships that lift us up, keep us warm, and help us prevail in tough times. Thank you for dear friends who love us no matter what, and for friendships which refresh the soul, awaken our hearts with joy, and remind us of your presence. Help us to appreciate and honor the wisdom and gifts of the friends you have given us, we ask in Jesus’s name, Amen.

“Walk with the wise and become wise,
for a companion of fools suffers harm.” (Proverbs 13:20 NIV)

“A dear friend will love you no matter what, and a family sticks together through all kinds of trouble.” (Proverbs 17:17 TPT)

“Sweet friendships refresh the soul and awaken our hearts with joy, for good friends are like the anointing oil, that yields the fragrant incense of God’s presence.” (Proverbs 27:9 TPT)

“Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken.” (Ecclesiastes 3:9-12 ESV)

With the faith and love God’s given
Springing from the hope we know
We will pray the joy you’ll live in
Is the strength that now you show

And friends are friends forever
If the Lord’s the Lord of them
