“Never doubt God’s mighty power to work in you and accomplish all this. He will achieve infinitely more than your greatest request, your most unbelievable dream, and exceed your wildest imagination!” (Ephesians 3:20 TPT)
Recently I heard the questions: “What do you want? What finances do you need to support it? If money was no object what would you ask for?” Take a moment and think about the first five things that you want and the resources you need for them. Physical items? Healing? Finances? Relationship changes? Miracles? Soul work? I expect you can come up with a list. What would be the next five things? And the next? To dream about what we want more than an interesting exercise; it’s also an effort for prayer, perseverance, and faith.
God can and does give us wonderful gifts. You’ve probably heard these words of Jesus: “Ask, and the gift is yours. Seek, and you’ll discover. Knock, and the door will be opened for you. For every persistent one will get what he asks for. Every persistent seeker will discover what he longs for. And everyone who knocks persistently will one day find an open door. Do you know of any parent who would give his hungry child, who asked for food, a plate of rocks instead? Or when asked for a piece of fish, what parent would offer his child a snake instead? If you, imperfect as you are, know how to lovingly take care of your children and give them what’s best, how much more ready is your heavenly Father to give wonderful gifts to those who ask him?” (Matthew 7:7-11 TPT). If God wants us to ask, seek, and knock so that he can give us gifts, let’s do so!
Some of the “wants” you listed may involve a great need for resources, the right people and relationships, and large doses of faith and joy in your believing – especially before you are able to see one of your wants happen. I heard a story recently that Corrie and Betsy Ten Boom, emprisoned in a Nazi concentration camp during World War 2, were talking and making plans for what they could do to help people after the war ended. Betsy reportedly said, “God will provide. We must do nothing else but bring the gospel, and He will take care of us. After all, He owns the cattle on a thousand hills. If we need money, we will just ask the Father to sell a few cows.” *
Let’s ask God to give us all the grace, peace, faith, and gifts he has for us – in abundance!
God of Abundance,
We praise you and bless your name because you are perfectly loving, giving, and faithful. Thank you that we can trust in your lovingkindness, rejoice in our salvation, and sing to you because you have dealt bountifully with us. We believe that you are able to bless us abundantly so that in all things at all times we have everything we need and abound in every good work. Today we seek you to ask for the gifts you have for us. Whether we need salvation for a loved one or friend, financial provision, a relationship adjustment, mental/emotional/spiritual healing, a miracle in our physical health, answers to questions we have, discernment and direction for decisions to make, or a whole host of other things, we seek YOU, Jehovah Jireh, our provider of all good things. You are the One who takes care of everything we need because your exceeding generosity pours forth from your glory. So, in Jesus’s name we persistently ask you to pour out upon us blessings, grace, faith, patience, finances, healing, and everything else we need. You are able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to your power at work within us. To you be glory forever and ever, Amen!
