[Please join me in praying for children, families, and our future on Thursdays this year.]
Let us declare and pray the following over families today:
- We will forgive as the Lord forgave us. We will bear with and forgive ourselves and others when we have a grievance against someone. (Colossians 3:13)
- No weapon formed against us will prosper or prevail and every tongue that rises against us in judgement we will condemn. (Isaiah 54:17)
- We will not let our hearts be troubled. We will not be afraid, for Jesus gives us peace. (John 14:27)
- We will turn away from godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge. (1 Timothy 6:20)
- Nothing will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus, so in all things God will work for our good. (Romans 8:28)
God,
We thank you that you are ever-present, always loving, teaching, guiding, and working out all things for our good. Thank you that nothing can separate us from you. Today we come to intercede for families in our world. From families who are doing well to those who are struggling mightily, we pray that you, Breath of Life, would give them what they need to not only survive but thrive in this world. We pray that marriages and parenting and grandparenting relationships would be strengthened. We pray that they would turn away from godless chatter, gossip, false knowledge, and other worldly speech, and their words would train and build up, encourage, and bless those around them – especially their children. We pray that families would have grace to work through the times when forgiveness is needed. Help individuals forgive each other as you forgave us on the cross. May their hearts not be troubled or fearful, but may they have deep an abiding shalom peace. We declare that no weapon formed against families will prosper, in Jesus’s name. AMEN.
“Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” (Colossians 3:13 NIV)
“‘No weapon forged against you will prevail,
and you will refute every tongue that accuses you.
This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,
and this is their vindication from me,’
declares the Lord.” (Isaiah 54:17 NIV)
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” (John 14:27 NIV)
“Guard what has been entrusted to your care. Turn away from godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge.” (1 Timothy 6:20 NIV)
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28 NIV)
