[Please join me in praying for children, families, and our future on Thursdays this year.]

“Don’t you see that children are God’s best gift?
the fruit of the womb his generous legacy?” (Psalm 127:3 MSG)

Let us pray the following over our families today:

  1. It is God who works in our wills and actions in order to fulfill his good purpose.  (Philippians 2:13)
  2. We will be kept in perfect peace as our minds are steadfast and we trust in God.  (Isaiah 26:3)
  3. We will be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer.  (Romans 12:2)
  4. We will be a new wineskin for the new wine of the Spirit that God is creating.  (Matthew 9:17)
  5. As we yield to the dynamic life and power of the Holy Spirit we will abandon the cravings of our self-lives.  (Galatians 5:16)

God,

Thank you that you call each of us to be your children and that when we seek you wholeheartedly we will find you. Thank you that you have gathered us to yourself and given us the children and families that we have. Today we ask that you would work in our wills and actions in order to fulfill your good purposes. We pray that parents, children, and families will yield to the dynamic life and power of Holy Spirit and abandon the cravings of our self-lives; make us more like Jesus. We pray that we would be kept in perfect peace because we trust you, and our minds are steadfast. We pray that we will be joyful in hope, patient when afflicted, and faithful in prayer. May we be new wineskins to the new wine of your Spirit, we pray in Jesus’s name, AMEN.

“In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. I will be found by you,” says the Lord. “I will end your captivity and restore your fortunes. I will gather you out of the nations where I sent you and will bring you home again to your own land.” (Jeremiah 29:12-14 NLT)

“For it is [not your strength, but it is] God who is effectively at work in you, both to will and to work [that is, strengthening, energizing, and creating in you the longing and the ability to fulfill your purpose] for His good pleasure.” (Philippians 2:13 AMP)

“You will keep in perfect peace
    those whose minds are steadfast,
because they trust in you.” (Isaiah 26:3 NIV)

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” (Romans 12:2 NIV)

“Neither do people pour new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the skins will burst; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.” (Matthew 9:17 NIV)

“But I say, walk habitually in the [Holy] Spirit [seek Him and be responsive to His guidance], and then you will certainly not carry out the desire of the sinful nature [which responds impulsively without regard for God and His precepts].” (Galatians 5:16 AMP)
