[Please join me in praying for our world on Tuesdays this year.]
“Through the blessing of the upright a city is exalted, but by the mouth of the wicked it is destroyed.” (Proverbs 11:11 NIV)
Omnipotent God,
Today we come to you grateful that we who dwell in your shelter can rest in your Presence. You are our fortress, our refuge, the God in whom we trust. Today we remember your Word which teaches that unless you build something it is built in vain, and unless you guard something earthy guards work in vain. So, we pray for your wisdom, your grace, and your righteousness to be poured out on our town and our county today. We pray that all those in political office would have godly counsel around them and that they will listen and obey your Word. We pray that local officials would influence state legislators when legislation is not beneficial to our community. We pray against spirits that encourage drug use in our county, especially fentanyl. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ we bind the sources of these dangerous drugs and declare that NO MORE will you be able to entice, enslave, and endanger people. We pray for law enforcement agencies to have prophetic insight into the drug traffickers and that these evil people would be found, prosecuted, and convicted. We pray for the strength to resist temptation fall on all those who are tempted by these drugs. May they be submitted fully to God so they can resist the enemy of our souls and his temptations, fears and lies. We continue to pray against any spirit of violence in this county and city. We pray for your comfort and presence to be fully upon those who have lost loved ones to violence, those who are experiencing trauma, and those who are trapped in traumatic situations. Be their deliverer, their healer, and their hope, in Jesus’s name. Set godly and wise believers around them to help you help these victims. Thank you that You are purging our city of scoffers who would set it afire, inflaming the minds of the people. Thank you that because Your people are using Godly wisdom, we are turning away anger, violence and hatred. We ask you to pour out your blessings on the upright people, leaders and businesses in our region. We declare that our city is rejoicing because it is going well with the uncompromisingly righteous. By the blessing of the influence of the upright, we call our city blessed. We pray for the peace and prosperity of our city and county. We are utterly amazed at the ways in which you work and we pray that you would have your way in this county as your people turn to you and influence it with your holiness and righteousness. We ask in Jesus’s name, AMEN.
“Look at the nations and watch—
and be utterly amazed.
For I am going to do something in your days
that you would not believe,
even if you were told.” (Habakkuk 1:5 NIV)
“Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.” (Jeremiah 29:7 NIV)
“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.’” (Psalm 91:1-2 NIV)
“Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; Unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.” (Psalms 127:1 NKJV)
