Hummingbird 2

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.
(Psalm 32:8 NIV)

I was sitting outside in my “floating chair” journalling and pouring out my frustrations to God when suddenly the deep whir of a hummingbird was near my head and then flew off. It startled me out of my self-recriminations. We’d just had special meetings at church about understanding how God speaks to us in dreams, and so I looked up what a hummingbird meant in dreams. What God led me to was this very encouraging article that not only speaks to my (and maybe your) struggles, but speaks to God’s Truth. Today I’ll share the second part of the article.

“I sense the Lord saying: “I am giving you the mind of Christ; I am directing your steps and guiding your path. My divine guidance is available to all who ask. Am I not able to lead you in turbulent times and seasons? Can I not bring you into a season of My divine rest?” (See Prov. 3:5-6, Psa. 32:8, Matt. 11:28.)

Two hummingbirds return to my mother’s yard feeder on schedule every year. They never lose their way. She welcomes them with excitement every time they arrive. A good memory (the mind of Christ) and divine guidance from reflecting on the Word of God will help you immensely in the days to come. Hummingbirds have very good memories, recalling even the tiniest details like the location of the flowers they last visited. Remembering those details helps them plan their return. The Lord is giving His people His mind, as well as the supernatural strategies and divine guidance we will soon need. He’s calling His Bride to steal away from the busyness and rest awhile in the garden of the Lord.

When the hummingbird sleeps, he enters a state of “torpor” that enables him to conserve his energy. And though it’s good that you make the most of your time, it’s even better to slow down and lie at the feet of your sweet Master to recharge and wait on Him, while giving Him your love and affection.

“But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” (Isa. 40:31)

At the end of the day, you owe yourself some rest. You should know when to relax, conserve some energy, and be refreshed in the presence of the Lord. Waiting means being quiet and actively listening for His gentle, divine direction, guidance, and mind. The heavenly Bridegroom calls His Bride away to rest, listen, and tenderly speak to Him.” – Steve Porter

God,

Thank you for your Word, sweet, refreshing, and strong! Thank you for your continued invitation to rest in you and renew our strength so we can actively listen for your divine direction, guidance, and words to us. Help us to always seek and live out your guidance, leadership, and strategies so that we may have a Kingdom impact in our worlds. Give us your mind, direct our steps, and guide our feet in the paths of peace, we ask in Jesus’s name, AMEN.

The rarest treasures of life are found in his truth. That’s why God’s Word is prized like others prize the finest gold. Sweeter also than honey are his living words— sweet words dripping from the honeycomb! (Psalm 19:10 TPT)

Because of the tender mercy of our God,
With which the Sunrise (the Messiah) from on high will dawn and visit us,
To shine upon those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death,
To guide our feet [in a straight line] into the way of peace and serenity.” (Luke 1:78-79 AMP)
