Blessed are you who hunger now,
for you will be satisfied.

God, what is it that you want me to pray about today?
Child, what do you have on your mind and heart?
My friend who had a heart attack, my friend whose husband chose alcoholism instead of her, and my friend who is traveling. And I’m thinking about a lot of those sermon teachings; it’s like drinking at the fire hose, spiritually.
Yep. And there weren’t any fire hoses in the Bible.
Except Jesus. And nobody “got” all that he said, either. We’ve been 2000 years trying to understand, absorb, and live out what he taught. And I don’t think we really get it.
Not completely. There have been seasons through the past 2000 years when my Body – the Church – has been closer to my perfect Kingdom life, but also times when it’s been farther away. My call is always to connection and closeness with me and with the people around you. You have always had that call on your life to closeness with me – even as a young child – but you’ve never really had a lot of people around you to show you how to develop it. Well-meaning teachers, pastors, and other leaders did what they knew to do at the time.
And I am grateful for their influence in my life.
YES! But there is more I want to teach you. More through my Word, my Spirit, and my Church. Much more.
I feel so hungry to absorb it all.
You will never be able to absorb “all.” I AM infinite; you are finite. But I reward those who genuinely, earnestly, and diligently seek to find me. Keep asking; keep searching; keep knocking on my spiritual doors. Keep your spiritual eyes and ears open. Keep your heart open.
Yes, Lord.
Father God,
Today we remember and are thankful for all those who have gone before us in the faith and for the ways in which they have taught us about you. We honor them and we praise you for your providence in this area. Help us not to be satisfied with what we know from our past, but keep us hungry for more and more of you, God. Open our spiritual eyes, ears, and hearts to discern your Voice and to continually desire your Word and Spirit. Burn within us your passion to ask for, search for, knock, and seek you. Purify the hearts of all people in your Church so that we are totally and fully able to absorb all that you are to us and for us. Give us hearts for Love alone, we ask in Jesus’s name, AMEN.
But without faith it is impossible to [walk with God and] please Him, for whoever comes [near] to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He rewards those who [earnestly and diligently] seek Him. (Hebrews 11:6 AMP)
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.
