The voice of the Lord divides flames of fire.
(Psalm 27:7 NASB)
The Lord is near to the brokenhearted
And saves those who are crushed in spirit.
(Psalm 34:18 NASB)
The Lord builds up [Los Angeles];
He gathers the outcasts of [the area].
He heals the brokenhearted
And binds up their wounds.
(Psalm 147:2-4 NASB, alt.)
I had planned a different post for today, but after reading some of the news coverage, I believe we need to shift our focus to praying about the fires in the Los Angeles, California area. Please join me.
All Powerful God,
In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, we pray and declare PEACE over the Los Angeles area. We ask that Your powerful voice supernaturally diminish the wildfires raging in this region, extinguishing them completely. We pray that You will halt the winds that are fueling these flames, whether by supernatural or natural means. We ask for long, gentle rains to fall, soaking the land and quenching the remaining fires.
We also pray for the air quality to improve, restoring it to safe, healthy levels so that those breathing it in are no longer harmed. We lift up the firefighters, asking that You provide them with every piece of equipment they need, an abundance of water to fight the flames, and the rest and assistance required to sustain their efforts. Grant them wisdom, endurance, and strength, Lord, and guide all first responders, leaders, and decision-makers with Your deep insight.
In Jesus’s name, we pray that You would protect the area from any attempts at theft, looting, or exploitation during this crisis. We pray for neighbors to come together in support, encouragement, and help for one another. Jehovah Jireh, we trust that You will provide every resource needed for those who have lost so much.
Be near to the brokenhearted, to those crushed in spirit, and to the outcasts. Bind up their wounds and heal this city. We ask all these things in the strong name of Jesus Christ, AMEN.
