Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged,
for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.
(Joshua 1:9 NIV)
Yesterday I was emailing with a friend who is juggling a lot—raising her late-teen sons, running a business, and managing the complex execution of her aunt’s estate in California. Much of her stress stems from navigating the legal system, which has become a significant burden on top of her already full life.
As I read her email, one word came to mind: BREAKTHROUGH. She desperately needs a breakthrough in these legal proceedings, which feel stuck—like an ice jam in the middle of winter.
She’s not alone in needing a breakthrough. Many of us face areas in life that feel frozen or immovable. So I began searching Scripture for guidance and promises to pray:
He who opens the breach goes up before them; they break through and pass the gate, going out by it. Their king passes on before them, the Lord at their head. (Micah 2:13 ESV)
May King Jesus go before everyone who is longing for a turning point—breaking through the places that are stuck, leading the way with power and purpose.
No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn… (Isaiah 54:17 NKJV)
Let us pray and boldly declare that no legal, emotional, physical, or spiritual weapon formed against efforts to do what is right for the family will succeed and prosper.
See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. (Isaiah 43:19 NIV)
May the eyes of our hearts be opened to recognize where God is making a way—even in the wilderness, even in dry and difficult places.
And I pray that, He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. (Philippians 1:6 NIV)
May we hold fast to the promise that God will finish what he started, no matter how complicated or delayed things may seem right now.
God,
For everyone facing difficult circumstances and in need of breakthrough, we pray that you hear and respond to the prayers lifted above. Grant peace, grace, and strength to those who are waiting. May they be strong and courageous, knowing that you are with them.
We also pray, in the name of Jesus, for BREAKTHROUGH in their situations. Bring order where there is chaos, provision where there is lack, and surround each heart with your grace and peace.
In Jesus’s name we pray, AMEN.
