God Almighty,
Thank You, Lord, for the beautiful calling of motherhood and for its many blessings. Thank You for the examples of faithful mothers in Scripture, such as Hannah and Mary, whose humility, obedience, and love reflected lives deeply rooted in You. Thank You also for the gift of children and for the countless ways mothers shape and influence their lives for good.
Today, we pray for those who carry regret over how they raised their children, for those who longed to be mothers but could not, and for those who have ignored, struggled with, or turned away from the calling to parent. Please bring comfort, healing, encouragement, and hope to each of them, drawing them closer to You—the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
We ask Your blessing upon all mothers and grandmothers. Give them wisdom to know what to do and how to do it, strength for each day’s responsibilities, courage to stand firmly on Your truth, and joy and laughter to lighten difficult moments. May they walk closely with Your Spirit and experience the deep joy of seeing their children and grandchildren walking in Your truth.
We ask all this in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, AMEN.
She is clothed with strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come.
She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
She watches over the affairs of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.
Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her. (Proverbs 31:25-28 NIV)
Unless the Lord builds the house,
the builders labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city,
the guards stand watch in vain.
In vain you rise early
and stay up late,
toiling for food to eat—
for he grants sleep to those he loves.
Children are a heritage from the Lord,
offspring a reward from him.
Like arrows in the hands of a warrior
are children born in one’s youth.
Blessed is the man
whose quiver is full of them.
They will not be put to shame
when they contend with their opponents in court. (Psalm 127 NIV)
I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth. (3 John 1:4 NIV)
He settles the childless woman in her home
as a happy mother of children. Praise the Lord. (Psalm 113:9 NIV)
Can a mother forget the baby at her breast
and have no compassion on the child she has borne?
Though she may forget,
I will not forget you!
See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands. (Isaiah 49:15-26 NIV)
Grandchildren are the crown of the aged, and the glory of children is their fathers. (Proverbs 17:6 ESV)
