A letter for us today

[Dear Mountain Moving Friends – I am still recovering from a wonderful weekend filled with family, friends, events, and the celebration of our oldest’s wedding. I will write more on that later, but for now, enjoy these sweet words from God and Psalm 37.]

My Precious Children,

I see you wondering what is going on in the world. I see how you look around and ask “why” and “how” and “when.” Don’t be surprised or worried or fearful; I am in control. I chose you to live for this moment in time because you have purposes to fulfill.

Don’t follow after the wicked ones or be jealous of their power or wealth. Don’t think for a moment they’re better off than you. They and their short-lived success will soon shrivel up and quickly fade away, like grass clippings in the hot sun. Keep trusting in me and do what is right in my eyes. Fix your heart on my promises, and you will dwell in the land, feasting on my faithfulness. Find your delight and true pleasure in me, your Yahweh, and I will give you what you desire the most.  Give me the right to direct your life, and as you trust me along the way, you’ll find I pulled it off perfectly! I will appear as your righteousness, as sure as the dawning of a new day. I will manifest as your justice, as sure and strong as the noonday sun.

Quiet your heart in my presence and wait patiently for me. And don’t think for a moment that the wicked, in their prosperity, are better off than you. Stay away from anger and revenge. Keep envy far from you, for it only leads you into lies.  For one day the wicked will be destroyed, but those who trust in the Lord – YOU – will inherit the land. Just a little while longer and the ungodly will vanish;  you will look for them in vain. But the humble of heart will inherit every promise and enjoy abundant peace.

The wicked will keep plotting against the godly with all their sneers and arrogant jeers. But I laugh at the wicked and their plans, for I know their day is coming! Evil ones take aim at the poor and helpless; they are ready to slaughter those who do right. But I, the Lord, will turn all their weapons of wickedness back on them, piercing their pride-filled hearts until they are helpless. It is much better for you to have little combined with much of me than to have the fabulous wealth of the wicked and nothing else. For I, the Lord, take care of all my forgiven ones while the strength of evil men will surely slip away. Day by day I watch the good deeds of the godly, and prepare for you the forever-reward.

Even in a time of disaster I will watch over you, and you will always have more than enough no matter what happens. All the enemies of God will perish. For the wicked have only a momentary value, a fading glory. Then one day they vanish! Here today, gone tomorrow. These are words you can count on – ancient words still relevant and firm. Stand firm in faith; I am your God and I have everything under control.

With love,

Papa
