Because of the Battle

Yes, he wrestled with the angel and won.
He wept and pleaded for a blessing from him.
There at Bethel he met God face to face,
    and God spoke to him—

the Lord God of Heaven’s Armies,
the Lord is his name!” (Hosea 12:4-5 NIV)

“Because of the battle I’ve learned how to pray

Because of this battle I will face it today

Because of the battle victory is mine

Because of the battle I will wait for his time

Because of the battle death has lost its sting

Because of the battle I will worship my king

Because of the battle my hope is alive

Because of the battle I’ll thrive, not just survive

Because of the battle my feelings will not win

Because the battle I will no longer be ruled by this sin

Because of the battle I’ve made my decision

Because of the battle I will trust in his provision

Because of the battle with my pain I will deal

Because of this battle I will receive my healing

Because of the battle my faith will not cave

Because of this battle my loved ones will be saved

Because of this battle I’ve learned how to trust

Because of this battle I will no longer doubt

Because of this battle it’s time for me to stand up and shout” -Brandon VanDonkelaar 8/13/23

God,

Thank you for the battle. It’s hard. It’s grueling. But you are faithful and true. We know that in the storms of life you are the Rock, the Shelter that is higher than we are. Give us strength, courage, spiritual weapons, and lots and lots of support and encouragement from fellow believers. Strengthen us with your courage to fight, knowing that we will win – one way or another – as you are Lord. We ask in Jesus’s name, AMEN.

“Those who live in the shelter of the Most High
will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
This I declare about the Lord:
He alone is my refuge, my place of safety;
he is my God, and I trust him.” (Psalm 91:1-2 NLT)

“Breakthrough”

I am weary from the waves

Crashing over every day

God of mercy, please come rescue me

I am longing for Your voice

Your gentle whisper in the noise

Father, tell me everything’s alright

Your power and Your presence

Breaks strongholds, King of Heaven

When You speak, mountains move

I believe there will be breakthrough

You alone can take my scars

And piece by piece restore my hear

Take what’s broken, make it whole again

Shake the mountains, break the walls apart

Open the Heavens, Almighty God, You are

Overcomer, Defender of my heart

By Your power, oceans open wide

Your fire falls down, Heaven and earth collide

King Jesus, forever by my side

There will be, There will be victory here
