Continued Prayers for Cora

When [the disciples] heard this, they raised their voices together in prayer to God. “Sovereign Lord,” they said, “you made the heavens and the earth and the sea, and everything in them…Stretch out your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.” (Acts 4:24, 30 NIV)

From “Cora’s” mom:

“Another update on Cora: Friday she had a hearing test followed by an appointment with her ENT. We learned that the small amount of hearing she briefly had in her right ear was only temporary. The test today showed no hearing on that side, and it is currently even weaker than it was back in May before surgery. We are continuing to pray that the nerve heals and that some hearing is restored. We know our God is able.

“During the exam, the ENT also noticed that the right side of her soft palate is not moving, and he suspected that her right vocal cord might also be paralyzed. She had a laryngoscopy, and this was confirmed. This means that, right now, she is experiencing issues involving not just cranial nerve 7, but also cranial nerves 9 and 10.

“We talked through what this could look like going forward. There is still a possibility for improvement over time, and there are treatment options for the vocal cord as well as hearing aids in the future if needed. We are especially grateful that, through all of this, Cora is still able to swallow and protect her airway, and she can still communicate—though her voice sounds different.

“We would be so grateful for your continued prayers. Thank you for walking with us.”

God,

You are the everlasting God — the creator of the ends of the earth, the one who knit us together in our mothers’ wombs. We praise you because we are fearfully and wonderfully made. Thank you that you never grow tired or weary, and yet you give strength to the weary and power to the weak.

Today, we come before you interceding for eight-year-old Cora. Thank you for all the healing you have already brought since her brain surgery in August — especially for the joy of seeing her remove the NG tube and return to regular food.

Now, Lord, we ask that you continue the good work you have begun. Please completely heal and restore her hearing, her facial movement, her vocal cords, and her soft palate. You are the God who makes the deaf hear, the mute speak, and who opens eyes and ears that are closed. We ask for a miracle of healing in her body.

Bless and guide every medical professional who cares for her. May they be people of honor, integrity, and compassion, seeking your wisdom and knowledge in every decision.

Grant Cora and her family strength, wisdom, and peace as they navigate these ongoing challenges. Stretch out your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders in her life. Restore her health, renew her strength, and make her whole, we pray — in Jesus’ mighty name. AMEN.

For I will restore health to you, and I will heal your wounds, says the Lord… (Jeremiah 30:17 AMPC)

The Lord is the everlasting God,
    the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
    and his understanding no one can fathom.
He gives strength to the weary
    and increases the power of the weak. (Isaiah 40:28-29 NIV)

People were overwhelmed with amazement. “He has done everything well,” they said. “He even makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.” (Mark 7:37 NIV)

Then will the eyes of the blind be opened and the ears of the deaf unstopped. (Isaiah 35:5 NIV)

For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well. (Psalm 139:13-14 NIV)
