December 20, 2020 Prayer – Revelation of Salvation

 Merciful God,

Thank you for offering us a new birth into a living hope, an inheritance that can never perish, spoil, or fade, because of the work of Jesus Christ.  Thank you for shielding us by your power until the fullness of time.  Thank you that even though a thousand years are like a day to you, your timing is perfect.  You are never late, but instead waiting until the Good News has gone to every people group and all have had the opportunity to turn to you for Eternal Life.   Today we pray for those who have chosen not to live in relationship with you, either by choosing not to choose or by actively choosing evil over Good.  We know you want all to come to a knowledge of the Truth and we pray for revelation and repentance to be poured out upon those who do not yet know you.  May your Spirit and individuals in your Church guide them into all Truth so that they may become disciples and work to further your Kingdom.  In your mercy, we pray for their salvation and that your Joy would come upon those not yet in your Kingdom.  In Christ’s name we pray, Amen.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.  (1 Peter 1:3-5)

I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people…that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time.  (1 Timothy 2:1-6)

But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.  (2 Peter 3:8-9)

For the revelation awaits an appointed time;
    it speaks of the end
    and will not prove false.
Though it linger, wait for it;
    it will certainly come
    and will not delay. (Habakkuk 2:3)

“But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.”  (John 16:13)
