Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory in the heavens. (Psalm 8:1 NIV)
“But [the time is coming when] the earth shall be filled
With the knowledge of the glory of the LORD,
As the waters cover the sea. (Habakkuk 2:14 AMP)
As I write this, various people are giving their opinions on what will happen Monday, April 8 when a solar eclipse crosses much of the United States. Some areas will see a complete eclipse for a period of minutes, others will see only a partial one. I heard somewhere this is something like only the 8th eclipse in the US since 1776. Interestingly enough, it’s the second in the last 7 years, and if you map the paths from the 2017 and 2024 eclipses, they form an “X” right over the general center of the country.
The response to this varies from “just another astronomical event” to “a sign of the apocalypse and end times.” Different people are counting how many cities named “Salem” and cities named “Nineveh” are in the path of this X. Some are drawing connections between where the Civil War began and ended and where these X’s begin and end. Plenty of people draw prophetic conclusions about what this timing or that place or this sign mean, as if everything must be an urgent message from God. That’s about where my research ends because I don’t want to dig too deeply into fear or fall into an abyss of speculation. I want to hear from God when God speaks.
For today, I’m going to focus on the fact that GOD created the earth, the solar system, the universe and everything within them — and every single particle, atom, and molecule of the Universe reflects God’s creativity, sovereignty, and GLORY.
God’s splendor is a tale that is told, written in the stars. Space itself speaks his story through the marvels of the heavens. His truth is on tour in the starry vault of the sky, showing his skill in creation’s craftsmanship. Each day gushes out its message to the next, night by night whispering its knowledge to all—without a sound, without a word, without a voice being heard, yet all the world can hear its echo. Everywhere its message goes out.*
Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!! Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty; the whole earth is full of your glory! The heavens declare your glory, oh God; the skies proclaim the work of your hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. Thank you for the enormous complexity of your Creation – so much so that humans are still exploring both the tiniest and largest aspects of it. Thank you for the wondrous ways in which you have delicately balanced this universe so that Life can exist. Your creating and sustaining Word is perfect in every way. As many communities in the U.S. prepare to experience this eclipse tomorrow, we pray that people will see your GLORY in it. May their ears be tuned to your love song as you rejoicing over them, Yeshua. May the eyes and hearts of those trapped in spiritual darkness be opened as they view the beauty and majesty of your Creation. Holy Spirit, use this astronomical event to draw people to you, the Lord of the Universe, and to know your love, grace, peace, and hope, we ask in Jesus’s name, AMEN.
“The Lord your God is in your midst, A Warrior who saves. He will rejoice over you with joy; He will be quiet in His love [making no mention of your past sins], He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy. (Zephaniah 3:17 AMP)

What a heavenly home God has set for the sun,
shining in the superdome of the sky!
See how he leaves his celestial chamber each morning,
radiant as a bridegroom ready for his wedding,
like a day-breaking champion eager to run his course.
He rises on one horizon, completing his circuit on the other,
warming lives and lands with his heat.
So may the words of my mouth, my meditation-thoughts,
and every movement of my heart be always pure and pleasing,
acceptable before your eyes, Yahweh,
my only Redeemer, my Protector. (Psalm 19:1-6, 14 TPT)
The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
2
Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they reveal knowledge.
3
They have no speech, they use no words;
no sound is heard from them.
4
Yet their voice goes out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.
In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun.
5
It is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber,
like a champion rejoicing to run his course.
6
It rises at one end of the heavens
and makes its circuit to the other;
nothing is deprived of its warmth.
7
The law of the Lord is perfect,
refreshing the soul.
The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy,
making wise the simple.
8
The precepts of the Lord are right,
giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the Lord are radiant,
giving light to the eyes.
9
The fear of the Lord is pure,
enduring forever.
The decrees of the Lord are firm,
and all of them are righteous.
10
They are more precious than gold,
than much pure gold;
they are sweeter than honey,
than honey from the honeycomb.
11
By them your servant is warned;
in keeping them there is great reward.
12
But who can discern their own errors?
Forgive my hidden faults.
13
Keep your servant also from willful sins;
may they not rule over me.
Then I will be blameless,
innocent of great transgression.
14
May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart
be pleasing in your sight,
Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer. (Psalm 19 NIV)
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.” (Isaiah 6:3 NIV)
