Encounter God’s Heart

While [Peter] was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “ This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well-pleased and delighted! Listen to Him!” (Matthew 17:5 AMP)

“Listen.

“Lean in and incline your ear to your Father’s voice. God fashioned you with the ability to hear him and to know when he speaks. Discovering the many different ways he conveys his heart is a process. The longer we walk with the Lord, the more exciting it is to realize how often he’s actually speaking.

“His voice is frequently a quiet small thought that rises within and gives you hope and wisdom. Sometimes it’s an unsettling feeling, warning you not to do something. Many times, it comes through the things you read or watch. It encourages you through the words of a worship song, imparts wisdom through a book, is heard through the counsel of a friend, or countless other ways. It never contradicts his Word, and it always settles well within you, even if it’s challenging. Pay attention. God is speaking to you today.

I’m listening, Lord. I know I’ll be learning to discern your voice for my entire life, but that’s okay—it creates desire to hear you more. I love the many ways you get my attention. It doesn’t matter how you speak to me; I just want to know when you do. Help me discover your voice in unexpected ways today.
