Gratitude

Sometimes we have to sit still with grateful hearts.

Tonight I am just sitting down after a 16 hour day at the end of a very, very busy camp week. Exhaustion is close, clean up is incomplete, children still need to talk to me. Even my dog and cat need to hop up next to me. But my memories go over images, feelings, sounds, and faces – so many faces of amazing kids and wonderful volunteers. Remembering the memories and the bond that this week gives us.

A camp week is like a mosaic – there are thousands of little snapshots that come together to form the big picture. The Bible is another sort of “mosaic” – lots of stories woven together as only the Master Author can do. People, places, events, catastrophes, moments – all woven together to make a picture telling of God and his love for us. And this week was a week filled with love, among many other things.

In my tired mind’s wanderings tonight, I again come back to gratitude. For thousands of moments this week, but mostly for these faces and hearts that were marked by God.

Thank you, God.
