In your head

Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion,
which cannot be shaken but endures forever.
As the mountains surround Jerusalem,
so the Lord surrounds his people
both now and forevermore. (Psalm 125:1-2 NIV)

God, I want Christians to pray about and vote in this upcoming election.

Me, too, Child; me too.

I posted an image on social media simply encouraging Christians to vote. Two politically liberal friends commented to say they were voting, but then listed all the candidates they were backing—people who stand for the exact opposite of my values.

They got in your head, didn’t they?

For a bit. I don’t want to dislike people who have different political views, but I truly can’t understand why they would want to vote for people with such terrible – even dangerous – ideas. I don’t understand how one can be such a brilliant person, so deeply study the Bible, and come up with such different political positions. I don’t know how to overcome that gulf.

Your job isn’t to understand. Your job is to stay focused on me, my plans, my word, and following what I call YOU to do. You do not know how I am working in others’ lives to align them with me. My thoughts and ways are higher than yours. Stay in a place of humility, do what I call you to do, and trust me for the process. Let me sort it all out. You do your best to love all people.

I’ll try, Lord.

This is a good season to stay deep in my Word, and far away from social media, news, and other things that will not keep you in my perfect Shalom Peace. I AM your Peace — unless you allow yourself to get distracted.

Yes, Lord. Our world is a real mess.

Yes, it is. But in the darkness my Light shines. In the mess I AM clarity. In the chaos I AM Shalom.

I know. I just don’t understand why people who call themselves Christians have to be so divided.

Some of what you call “division” is variety. But some is apostasy. In the last days I will separate the sheep and the goats, the wheat and the tares. In the last days families will be divided, based on beliefs. But I AM the one who will do the dividing. *

And in the last days you will pour out your Spirit upon all people.

Yes, but not all will accept it.

God, help me to not choose darkness, but to choose Light.

You are, Child. I love you.

Thank you, Abba.

AMEN.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8–9 NIV)

Do not fret because of those who are evil
    or be envious of those who do wrong;
for like the grass they will soon wither,
like green plants they will soon die away. (Psalm 37:1-2 NIV)

And afterward,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your old men will dream dreams,
your young men will see visions.
Even on my servants, both men and women,
I will pour out my Spirit in those days. (Joel 2:28-29 NIV)
