Divine Love,

As we enter a new year, help us to have the faith and endurance of people like Simeon and Anna.  May we be righteous and devout, patient in our waiting for things of the Kingdom, and obedient when we are moved by the Spirit.  May we burst into praise, recognizing Your fulfillment of promises.  May we see your salvation offered to all people.  Mostly, Lord God, we pray your Holy Spirit would be upon us as it was on these astounding examples of faith.

Maranatha, Lord Jesus come….

Amen

“Now there was a man in Jerusalem called Simeon, who was righteous and devout. He was waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord’s Christ. Moved by the Spirit, he went into the temple courts. When the parents brought in the child Jesus to dofor him what the custom of the Law required, Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying:

“Sovereign Lord, as you have promised,
you now dismiss your servant in peace.
For my eyes have seen your salvation,
which you have prepared in the sight of all people,
a light for revelation to the Gentiles
and for glory to your people Israel.”  (Luke 2:25-32 NIV)

“A child will be born for us.
A son will be given to us.
The government will rest on his shoulders.
He will be named:
Wonderful Counselor,
Mighty God,
Everlasting Father,
Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6 GW)
