November 8, 2020 Prayer – Chocolate Chip Cookies

Thank you, God, for small, often unnoticed things.

Thank you, God, for chocolate chip cookies whose deliciousness does not change (no matter what the food shamers say).

Thank you, God, for cars that start, lights that turn on, and toilets that flush (almost) every time.

Thank you, God, for beautiful sunrises and sunsets, whether or not we can see them.

Thank you, God, for pets that beg to be fed, held, and loved.

Thank you, God, for an abundance of food in the stores and the modern technology with which to cook that food.

Thank you, God, for leaves that fall off trees in their preparation for winter – and our anticipation of spring’s new leaves.

Thank you, God, for new friends, conversations with old friends, and your Spirit that binds us together in the unity of peace.

Thank you, God, for all prayers heard, poorly-timed prayers unanswered, bad prayers ignored, and righteous prayers that avail much.

Thank you, God, for love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control that we have as temples of your Holy Spirit.

Thank you, God, for the abundant life we have when we are in relationship with Jesus Christ and seeking first your Kingdom.

Thank you, God, for the constancy of Who You Are.  Hour after hour, month after month, millennium after millennium, you are the same and never change.  You are the same yesterday, today, and forever.

We rejoice in your faithfulness to us, your Children and your Church.  We give thanks in all circumstances.  And we pray you would keep us as individuals, us as your Church, and this nation in the center of God’s will for us in Christ Jesus.  Amen.

“Rejoice always,  pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (1 Thes. 5:21)
