“Sovereign God,
You spoke the world into being, guided your people by your Word through the prophets in the Old Testament, and poured out your Holy Spirit so we can discern whether what we hear is of You. Your Word never fails; your thundering Voice never wavers from what is Truth. And we know that when we fix our spiritual ears on you, we can hear your heartbeat of love for this world. Yet, there are many in this world whose voices try to drown out yours with false messages of gloom, discouragement, condemnation, rumors of war and violence, and total falsehoods and corruption. In the name of Jesus we bind these lying spirits in our media, our education system, our government, and even your Church. We pray against any voice that would seek to convince your people of hopelessness or that your Will won’t come true. We hear your warnings to false “prophets” and know your patience with such falsehood and corruption only lasts so long. Bring their lies into the Light of Truth in such a way that is public and irrefutable and may those who propagate these lies be brought to full justice. Give your People and your Church wisdom and discernment to know which voices are from you. Give us courage to recognize and then turn off the voices in media, government, and even the Church who are lying to us and then focus us on your Voice and your Word. Give us a deep, confident faith that when we listen to your Word, we will know your heartbeat of love for us and this nation and that your Truth will set us free from the deceptions of the enemy. In the powerful name of Christ we pray, Amen.
“The voice of the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the Lord thunders over the mighty waters. The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is majestic.” (Psalm 29:3-4)
“Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thorn bushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them. (Matthew 7:15-20)
The word of the Lord came to me: “Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who are now prophesying. Say to those who prophesy out of their own imagination: ‘Hear the word of the Lord! This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Woe to the foolish prophets who follow their own spirit and have seen nothing! Your prophets, Israel, are like jackals among ruins. You have not gone up to the breaches in the wall to repair it for the people of Israel so that it will stand firm in the battle on the day of the Lord. Their visions are false and their divinations a lie. Even though the Lord has not sent them, they say, “The Lord declares,” and expect him to fulfill their words. Have you not seen false visions and uttered lying divinations when you say, “The Lord declares,” though I have not spoken? “‘Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: Because of your false words and lying visions, I am against you, declares the Sovereign Lord. My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and utter lying divinations. They will not belong to the council of my people or be listed in the records of Israel, nor will they enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Sovereign Lord.” (Ezekiel 13:2-9)
“I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” (Matthew 16:19)
“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:32)
