Prayer for Education

Lord, we lift up students across our community. I pray students will seek out and follow your call on their lives. We desire champions of righteousness and bearers of light among the students in our community.  Give strength to resist the ideologies of darkness that have permeated much of the educational system.  Create a shield of protection around them against teachings that distort and undermine their identity.   Make them know they are children of God woven together by a creator to be as they have been created.

We humbly ask for forgiveness when we have allowed darkness within the educational system to remain.  Matthew 18 reminds us of the consequence of causing a child to stumble.  Let us not be complicit in the mistreatment of children through our lack of action.   Help us be more receptive to your call to make a difference, and strengthen our commitment as we work to make an impact.

Call and draw Godly people to fill open electoral positions on our local school boards, in this state capitol and in Washington DC.

We pray for the teachers, administrators, school staff and governing bodies.   Bless them with patience, wisdom, and strength as they carry out their important work and we pray for your revelation in their lives so that they fully understand and can speak of your life and light in the fulfillment of their position.

We pray all will understand you are the creator of all . . . including education . . . that you value growth through learning.  We pray for the removal of unrighteousness from educational curriculum, and policies.   As Proverbs 9 tells us, the teaching of righteousness will add to the learning.  The absence of righteousness  does not have the same covering.  May we seek to provide better education through righteousness.

You have instructed us about the power of educating and leading our children.  Let us not forsake this responsibility.  In Proverbs 22:6  you have told us to  “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old, they will not turn from it.”   Let everyone involved with our children keep focused on this great responsibility and turn away from efforts to indoctrinate our children into sin and the ways of darkness.

We pray parents will stand up for their children and that the community will stand alongside parents that need to fight for their kids.  We are thankful you have given us curiosities and desires to learn.  But your word tells us in Proverbs 1:7 that, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.”   Give everyone involved in education be aware of the truth that a reverence and obedience of the Lord should be the foundation of all learning.

Father, we also pray for leaders of educational associations and teacher unions, that the leadership of these organizations and the organizations themselves will lose their unfavorable influence over school systems, teachers and students when that influence is against your will.   I pray they will open their eyes to you and know they may seek wisdom from you, our God who gives wisdom to those who ask in your name.   We pray all this is the precious name of Jesus. AMEN
