Monday-Before-Elections Prayer

Perfect God,

Tuesday the voting in this crazy year’s crazy election will be complete.  Thank you for walking us through this fall and that your presence continues to go with us. We ask that as we finish this season and enter the interim season between the election and the installation of new lawmakers you would dispel any and all chaos and cause peace to reign in this land.

We pray that you would continue to awaken people to your Voice and your Spirit’s movement in this world. Woo hearts and minds with your goodness and grace into a place of surrender and obedience to you. Pour out your love and Spirit and blessing on all those whose hearts are tender – or can become tender – toward you. Give them supernatural dreams, visions, urgings – use whatever it takes – to call them into your arms of Love.

Align all our hearts, minds, and souls to You so that our votes are for your Truth, Righteousness, and our Freedoms. We will be voting for many levels of political races and each of these offices – in greater or smaller ways – impacts our lives. I pray that parents and grandparents, especially, would be awake to what is at stake in the ways in which their votes influence their children and our shared future. For voters who are still wavering about the votes they will cast, I pray that you will put in front of them the people, the literature, the article, or the commercial they need to see in order to vote in a way that honors you. May they not vote a certain way just because of the party affiliation of the candidate or because they saw more commercials or yard signs, but may they be guided by your Spirit. Christ has set us free from spiritual sin and death; help us to vote in ways that do not send us back into the civic slavery of sin and death. May your holy energy be buzzing through our conversations and decisions so that the electorate rises up to vote for a future with hope.

We pray protection upon poll workers and all voters who go to vote in person.  We pray for honesty and purity of heart to be in all those who will be working to count and tally votes.  We pray for an election with absolutely no fraud or corruption at any level, in any state, in any county.  We bind any spirit that would try to corrupt or commit fraud in the voting and tallying.   We pray that every legal vote would be counted and tallied accurately and that the results would reflect your Will expressed through the electorate. May your Will be done and your Kingdom come as we engage in civic duty.

Thank you that this season will be over. Thank you that you have given strength and endurance to your children – to your spiritual army – for this season. Help us to not become weary in doing good because we know your harvest is worth the effort we give. Help us to not to become discouraged or to give up, but to be strong and courageous because our Lord God is with us. For the honor and glory of your Name and for the furtherance of your Kingdom we pray, Amen.

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9 NIV)

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9 NIV)

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”” (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV)

“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” (Matthew 6:9-10)

“It may seem to be a good thing to get something by cheating, but in the end, it will be worth nothing.” (Proverbs 20:17)

“Woe to the sinful nation,
    a people whose guilt is great,
a brood of evildoers,
    children given to corruption!
They have forsaken the Lord;
    they have spurned the Holy One of Israel
    and turned their backs on him.” (Isaiah 1:4)

“When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place. I have chosen and consecrated this temple so that my Name may be there forever. My eyes and my heart will always be there.” (2 Chronicles 7:13-16 NIV)
