God,
You are our refuge and shield; we put our hope in your Word. As we listen to this final gubernatorial debate tonight, we pray you would cause the right questions to be asked, the responses to be full, truthful, and fair, and the debate to help us know these candidates’ platforms better. Help us to ignore those whose blather distorts and confuses truth and instead to seek your way for our state. We cry out for wisdom for the electorate as it makes voting decisions. May your Word open the eyes of our hearts and minds and guide our decision making. And may your Spirit cause the electorate to vote into all offices candidates with integrity, honor, and godly convictions.
In Christ’s name I pray,
Amen
“You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in your word.” (Psalm 119:114 NIV)
“The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.” (Proverbs 4:7)
“When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place. I have chosen and consecrated this temple so that my Name may be there forever. My eyes and my heart will always be there.” (2 Chronicles 7:13-16 NIV)
