Prayer for Marriages and Families

“Worthy are You, our Lord and God,
to receive the glory and the honor and the power;
for You created all things,
and because of Your will they exist,
and were created and brought into being.”
(Revelation 4:11 AMP)

Yesterday we celebrated our son’s marriage. Today, let us pray for all marriages and families.

We shout in praise to our Lord! Hallelujah! All who love the Lord are blessed. Today we pray for married couples and families. We pray they will delight in you, Lord God, cherish your words, and be blessed beyond expectation – fortunate, prosperous, and favored by you. May they love and fear you with awe-inspired reverence, and worship you with obedience as they delight greatly in your Love and your Law.

We pray their children, grandchildren, and other descendants will be prosperous, influential, and mighty on earth, because they are righteous. May your favor and wealth fill their houses as they seek first your Kingdom and your Wisdom. May your Light shine upon them, even when darkness threatens, because they live lives of integrity and are tender, true, and gracious to others. May they be people of generosity, charity, honesty, and truth so that they are gracious and just. May their circumstances never shake them and may their legacy be a good and righteous example for others. May they never fear or dread what may come, but may their hearts be firm and steadfast, confidently relying on and believing that you, Lord God, are trustworthy and faithful. May they always be steady and strong, unafraid, and victorious over adversaries. May they always give freely and generously to those in need, and live lives of righteousness, influence, and honor that are remembered for their good deeds. When the wicked see these lives lived in close and sweet communion and obedience to the Lord, may their wicked desires perish so they come to faith in you.

God, give your grace to these husbands and wives as they build their homes and families. Pour out your mercy and protection upon them. May they work hard and not fear lack, but may they also know that you will provide for those you love – even in miraculous ways. May they understand the importance and blessing of children in their marriage. May your godly heritage be instilled within the children so that they will always bless their parents and pass their faith on to their offspring. May you give children abundantly to parents whose hearts are focused on you and who have no greater desire than to see their children walking in faith. May they parent as warriors, aiming these young “arrows” carefully toward your Truth, Grace, Mercy, and Love. May these parents and children have godly influence and honor as they impact this world.

Today we celebrate your goodness and grace in all Christian marriages, and ask for your blessing, favor, and the anointing of your Holy Spirit to be upon these families, in Jesus’s name, AMEN.

Praise the Lord! (Hallelujah!)
Blessed [fortunate, prosperous, and favored by God] is the man who fears the Lord [with awe-inspired reverence and worships Him with obedience],
Who delights greatly in His commandments.
His descendants will be mighty on earth;
The generation of the upright will be blessed.
Wealth and riches are in his house,
And his righteousness endures forever.
Light arises in the darkness for the upright;
He is gracious and compassionate and righteous (upright—in right standing with God).
It is well with the man who is gracious and lends;
He conducts his affairs with justice.
He will never be shaken;
The righteous will be remembered forever.
He will not fear bad news;
His heart is steadfast, trusting [confidently relying on and believing] in the Lord.
His heart is upheld, he will not fear
While he looks [with satisfaction] on his adversaries.
He has given freely to the poor;
His righteousness endures forever;
His horn will be exalted in honor.
The wicked will see it and be angered,
He will gnash his teeth and melt away [in despair and death];
The desire of the wicked will perish and come to nothing. (Psalm 112 AMP)

Shout in celebration of praise to the Lord! Everyone who loves the Lord and delights in him will cherish his words and be blessed beyond expectation. Their descendants will be prosperous and influential. Every generation of the righteous will experience his favor. Great blessing and wealth fills the house of the wise, for their integrity endures forever. Even if darkness overtakes them, sunrise-brilliance will come bursting through because they are gracious to others, so tender and true. Life is good for the one who is generous and charitable, conducting affairs with honesty and truth. Their circumstances will never shake them and others will never forget their example. They will not live in fear or dread of what may come, for their hearts are firm, ever secure in their faith. Steady and strong, they will not be afraid, but will calmly face their every foe until they all go down in defeat. Never stingy and always generous to those in need, they lived lives of influence and honor that will never be forgotten, for they were full of good deeds. But the wicked take one look at a life lived like this and they grit their teeth in anger, not understanding their bliss. The wicked slink away speechless in the darkness that falls, where hope dies and all their dreams fade away to nothing, nothing at all. (Psalm 112 TPT)

Unless the Lord builds the house,
They labor in vain who build it;
Unless the Lord guards the city,
The watchman keeps awake in vain.
It is vain for you to rise early,
To retire late,
To eat the bread of anxious labors—
For He gives [blessings] to His beloved even in his sleep.
Behold, children are a heritage and gift from the Lord,
The fruit of the womb a reward.
Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,
So are the children of one’s youth.
How blessed [happy and fortunate] is the man whose quiver is filled with them;
They will not be ashamed
When they speak with their enemies [in gatherings] at the [city] gate. (Psalm 127 AMP)

If God’s grace doesn’t help the builders,
they will labor in vain to build a house.
If God’s mercy doesn’t protect the city,
all the sentries will circle it in vain.

It really is senseless to work so hard
from early morning till late at night,
toiling to make a living for fear of not having enough.
God can provide for his devoted lovers even while they sleep!

Children are God’s love-gift; they are heaven’s generous reward.
Children born to a young couple will one day rise to protect
and provide for their parents.
Happy will be the couple who has many of them!
A household full of children will not bring shame on your name
but victory when you face your enemies,
for your offspring will have influence and honor
to prevail on your behalf! (Psalm 127 TPT)

I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth. (3 John 1:4 ESV)
