Spring hasn’t quite sprung

Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers.
(3 John 2 NASB)

The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.
(James 5:16 NLT)

I aim to write a variety of posts on this blog to encourage, challenge, educate, and share life with you. However, today, as I did yesterday, I invite you to join me in prayer for a specific person(s) in need. I recently received a text asking for prayer for a cousin’s husband. He has been battling double pneumonia for a week, his heart has stopped three times, and he is now hospitalized and on a ventilator. While many of us have moved on from the seasonal illnesses that come with winter, many others are still struggling with the flu, viruses, pneumonia, and other sicknesses.

When we’re healthy, it’s easy to overlook the passage of time—the sun shines during the day, weeks slip by, and before we know it, months and years have passed. But when we or our loved ones are unwell, time can seem to drag on, marked by doctor visits and treatments, and often weighed down by anxiety or fear. Today, let us pray for “John” and all those who are ill, lifting them up in hope and faith, and bringing them before the Great Physician for complete and total healing.

God, we thank you for being the same yesterday, today, and forever. We are grateful for the healing you offer us through the work of Christ on the Cross. Today, we cry out to you for healing for those battling seasonal illnesses, the flu, viruses, pneumonia, and other sicknesses. We especially lift up “John” and others who are currently hospitalized.

We ask that you grant doctors and medical professionals the wisdom and discernment to know how best to care for those who are ill. We pray that even as treatments in the natural can lead to healing, your supernatural healing will manifest because of the prayers of your people. Please bring comfort, strength, support, grace, and peace to those whose loved ones are sick. Provide for them emotionally, financially, and spiritually. Lord, heal and restore the sick, we ask in Jesus’s name. Amen.

Heal me, Lord, and I will be healed;
    save me and I will be saved,
    for you are the one I praise. (Jeremiah 17:14 NIV)

O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you restored my health. (Psalm 30:2 NLT)

Surely he took up our pain
    and bore our suffering,
yet we considered him punished by God,
    stricken by him, and afflicted.
But he was pierced for our transgressions,
    he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
    and by his wounds we are healed. (Isaiah 53:4-5 NIV)

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. (Hebrews 13:8 NIV)
