Do you not know? Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.
(Isaiah 40:28-31 NIV)
God,
We pray for strength for those who are weary …
– for citizens weary of this four year presidential campaign and its vitriol and negativity
– for citizens who are weary of being lied to and no longer trust their government, media, or other institutions
– for citizens who are weary of lawfare and judicial legislating and no longer believe the law of our nation is applied fairly to all people
– for soldiers weary of being far from home, serving our nation but always in harm’s way
– for veterans who have returned from war and are weary of dealing with unemployment, disability, strain on relationships, PTSD, and many other problems
-for all those who are exhausted from the economic pressures and inflation we are experiencing
-for citizens of Eastern Tennessee, Western North Carolina, Florida and other areas who are painstakingly rebuilding communities damaged by hurricanes Helene and Milton
-for citizens of Israel, Gaza, and the greater Middle East who experience war after war and conflict after conflict
-for citizens of Ukraine and Russia, caught in a stalemate of a conflict
-for children who are victims of sex trafficking, and for the law enforcement officials that are constantly trying to find and help the victims
-for 24/7 caregivers who could really use a day off
– for prayer warriors who have interceded and fought in the spirit for years, and are still waiting to have prayers answered
We pray you would cause us to hope in you for our strength. Give us rest where we need rest, courage where we need to act, and wisdom to know the difference. In the places you call us to go, help us to run and not be weary. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen
The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” (Exodus 33:14 NIV)
