6 Days to Pray

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. (Romans 12:2 NIV)

Now, a person who is put in charge as a manager must be faithful. (1 Corinthians 4:2 NLT)

All-Powerful God,

Thank You for the freedom and opportunity to vote for our elected leaders. Thank You for the many people serving in the more than 10,000 election jurisdictions across the United States, including election judges, poll workers, county clerks, and other observers who help citizens cast their votes and ensure those votes are accurately tallied. Many of these individuals spend hours learning how to fulfill their duties faithfully and diligently, sometimes at the expense of time with their families. We pray that every man and woman who serves their fellow citizens in this way will be committed to obeying the law, ensuring a fair and accurate vote count, and thwarting any efforts to improperly influence the voting process or election results. May they be men and women of integrity and honor who faithfully uphold the oaths they took when they accepted these responsibilities.

We also pray for the chief election officials in each state—often a Secretary of State or an election board—who oversee the largely decentralized election systems within their states. We pray that they will accurately maintain voter registration databases, certify official election results, approve voting equipment, and provide clear guidance to local precinct and county election administrators. When an election official is also running for another elected office, we pray that they will act with integrity and take every appropriate measure to avoid improperly influencing the election results. If any official engages in illegal activity, we pray that Your Spirit will convict them and that other officials will have the courage to stand up against such interference.

We pray that every election official will fulfill their duties lawfully, faithfully, and to the best of their abilities. We pray that every local, county, and state election concluding on November 3 will be conducted with fairness and integrity, so that qualified voters can cast their ballots and have their votes accurately recorded and tallied. May the election results faithfully reflect the will of the people, and may all those entrusted with overseeing our elections remember that they are accountable for the responsibilities You have allowed them to hold. In Jesus’ name, AMEN.
